ABOUT THE SAT

The SAT is a standardized entrance exam used by most colleges in the U.S. to determine a students’ readiness for college. When making admissions decisions, colleges consider applicants’ SAT scores along with a number of other factors, including GPA, extracurricular activities, personal statements, letters of recommendation, and interview.

The SAT is divided into four parts: the Reading Test, the Writing and Language Test, the Math Test, and the optional Essay. Students are given 3 hours and 50 minutes to complete the entire exam, including the Essay section.

There are four SAT test dates for international students each year in October, December, March, and June. Students may take the SAT any time starting their freshman year. Many students take the SAT for the first time in their junior year and often retake it in the fall of their senior year.
